You make beautiful things...

I’ve really wanted to write another blog post lately, but I find that I am usually at a loss for words. And I haven’t set up much of a premise for this blog, so I’m not sure what to write about. I don’t want to just tell people about cool things that I’ve been doing, because who really wants to read that? There are quite a few things, though, that I could say along the lines of “awake my soul”. It is a constant theme in my life. I want to live my life wide awake. I want to read poetry and stand on top of mountains. Oswald Chambers said some good stuff yesterday about drudgery. He named it as “one of the finest tests to determine the genuineness of our character”. February is a very wintery month. I tend to hide away from the world during this time of year and wait for spring to come so I can be alive again. My daily life is defined by drudgery throughout most of the winter. If drudgery is a test of character, then what does that say about me? I feel a constant sense of failure when I don’t engage with the world or the people around me. Hmm, this is not the direction I thought this post was going to go…
Anyway. Here are some things I want to say…
My dear friend, Brett Lamoureux, is visiting me right now. This is the second time I’ve seen her since Capernwray TWO YEARS AGO. Capernwray was two years ago. Unreal. But I’m so glad that the people who I met there are still very much a part of my life, even though we may be far away. I am so blessed to have such fantastically marvelous friends.

Sometimes, all I need is the right combination of simple pleasures to make a day spectacular.
So here’s to poetry and coloring books, vintage stores and raspberry beer, letters from far away and frost-covered trees, British chocolate and getting lost, used books and a spring breeze, honest conversations and park benches, the smell of salt water and SNOW COVERED MOUNTAINS.
